Welcome ArtsTalk Magazine Holland

Launched in June 2017, we are the sister publication of StageTalk Magazine in the UK and provide previews, reviews and information, in English, for theatres, art exhibitions, concerts, opera etc, concentrating on cities in south west Netherlands (Noord/Zuid Holland and Utrecht regions). Each venue, museum or gallery has its own page with information and a link to its website. The site is updated regularly and information is always coming in so there is always something new to discover or read about.

Some Highlights This Month

September in known as le rentrée in France – it’s when everything gets back to normal after the summer. Our summer was busy with festivals and other outdoor events but we are now getting back to events in more permanent venues.

On 15th September at the Rietveld Theatre in Delft there is a tribute by Trio Beijersbergen to one of the most important jazz pianists of the last century – Bill Evans.

There are a couple of literary events coming up at Border Kitchen in The Hague which we will be covering – Jonathan Safran Foer on 4th and Colson Whitehead on 11th. . . .

THE WESTFRIES MUSEUM in Hoorn

Slightly out of the area we normally cover (hence its Extracurricular designation) the Westfries Museum is one of those museums where the building itself is as interesting as its exhibits. In its panelled, oak-beamed rooms and via its steep winding staircases you can feel the concentrated power of the 17th century Dutch, a time of abundance of riches.

Each week ArtsTalk Magazine editor Michael Hasted presents a podcast focusing on cultural events in and around The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

This week he is in Delft and talks with jazz musicians, singer JACKIE SARLUIS and guitarist ERWIN BEIJERSBERGEN in their studio in a former school.
