The main house no longer exists having been demolished to make way for the of the development of the Spuikwartier which will include new performance spaces and is due to open in 2020. Nederlands Dans Theater and other events are taking place in the Zuiderstrandtheater in nearby Scheveningen.

Welcome to ArtsTalk Magazine Holland

Launched in June 2017, we are the sister publication of StageTalk Magazine in the UK and provide previews, reviews and information, in English, for theatres, art exhibitions, concerts, opera etc, concentrating on cities in south west Netherlands (Noord/Zuid Holland and Utrecht regions). Each venue, museum or gallery has its own page with information and a link to its website. The site is updated regularly and information is always coming in so there is always something new to discover or read about.

WHILE NOT QUITE BACK TO NORMAL, THINGS ARE SLOWLY GETTING BETTER

After nearly six months since the original lockdown, performance spaces, galleries and museums and the public are settling into some sort of routine – wearily accepting the inconvenience of the ongoing restrictions and controls.
For museums, especially the big ones in Amsterdam like the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh, it means one is able to look at the pictures in a calm and leisurely fashion without staring at the backs of heads and back-packs of hordes of mindless tourists . . .

EXTRACURRICULAR

At Last – Eurostar Launches Direct Amsterdam-London Service

Five months later than planned and ten months after the original planned start date Eurostar will finally launch its direct service from Amsterdam to London on 26th October.

Ticket for the service will go on sale from 1st September, with two services a day starting on 26th October. Ticket prices start at €46 one way.
Direct trains have been running from London to Amsterdam since 2018, but passengers heading for the UK still had to change trains and go through security checks in Brussels south.

NOREENA HERTZ at De Balie in Amsterdam

British economist and author, Noreena Hertz has recently published a new book called, The Lonely Century: How Isolation Imperils Our Future (8th September). At it’s heart lies the question: are we in the midst of a global loneliness crisis and what can we do about it? With the arrival of Covid 19, a growing trend toward both social and political isolation has been exacerbated in many ways. Noreena spoke at the recent Forum on European Culture hosted by De Balie about her book and the dangers of another, more insidious pandemic that also threatens our mental and physical health: loneliness.
