Welcome ArtsTalk Magazine Holland

Launched in June 2017, we are the sister publication of StageTalk Magazine in the UK and provide previews, reviews and information, in English, for theatres, art exhibitions, concerts, opera etc, concentrating on cities in south west Netherlands (Noord/Zuid Holland and Utrecht regions). Each venue, museum or gallery has its own page with information and a link to its website. The site is updated regularly and information is always coming in so there is always something new to discover or read about.

If you are promoting any events, please let us know and we’ll probably be able to list them.

Some Highlights This Month

Lots of good and important things happening across the arts spectrum this month. For those of us who enjoy English language theatre October will be a very satisfying month. STET, the English Theatre in The Hague presents NIGHTS at the National Theatre’s Zaal 3 and the Queen’s English Theatre Company in Amsterdam present their gay version of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST at the beginning of November.

Opera lovers are well catered for too with a semi-staged presentation of DON GIOVANNI by Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw (Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century) and soloists from Amsterdam Cappella, under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery at De Doelen in Rotterdam on 7th and at other venues throughout the month. Nederlandse Reisopera’s latest offering, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE, is also on tour in our area.

EXTRACURRICULAR

COME CLOSER at Kasteel Oud-Rekem, Belgium

is not only an invitation into the various worlds of each of the site specific works by the 23 artists from almost as many countries, but also an invocation of the past in this evocative three story building. The physicality in this former castle, former boarding school, former institute for those classed as insane, and recently the traces of past exhibitions in this unique building are part and parcel of this invitation to look, see, listen and feel.
