A remarkable theatre in many ways. Situated a long way from the centre of The Hague’s seaside resort of Scheveningen it nestles under rolling dunes and from a distance looks like a minor nuclear power station. It is surely one of the few theatres which has sand swirling round the foyer and is slap bang next to the docks with large ships tied up only a few meters away .
That said, inside it is a comfortable theatre with an enormous stage and good sight lines. Although offering a very mixed bag of entertainment for all tastes it specialises in classical concerts and opera and is temporary home to the Nederlands Dans Theater until their own theater in the centre of The Hague reopens with the completion of the spectacular new Spuikwartier.
