The Rijksmuseum presents the first comprehensive survey of the history of American photography in Europe. With more than 200 works spanning three centuries, American Photography explores the rich and multifaceted history of photography in the United States – from everyday personal moments to turning points in history, demonstrating how photography has permeated every aspect of our lives since its invention in the 19th century: in art, news, advertising and everyday life.
