Dust from fruit peels, mushroom “leather”, spider silk, paint made by bacteria and algae; GROW, the new exhibition at the Fashion for Good Museum in Amsterdam, explores biomaterials and groundbreaking innovations for a sustainable future for the fashion industry. What exactly are these, biomaterials? How durable are they and what makes them different from traditional fibers such as cotton and hemp? And does organic always mean better and sustainable? It can be a challenge to include the many different types of sustainable materials, so for the annual exhibition, which has been developed in-house for the first time, the Fashion for Good Museum dives into all things biomaterials.
