Harold Pinter’s THE CARETAKER (De Huis-bewaarder) on tour

Until 30th December.

“How far do you go to help a stranger? And how long should the stranger stay grateful for that help? – Paul Knieriem, Director of De Huisbewaarder

Aston is not quite right in his head. After a long stay in an institution, his view of reality has become cloudy. He functions, to a greater or lesser extent, as a odd-job man for his younger brother Mick, with whom he lives. Aston cannot make the distinction between fiction and reality anymore. This also applies to assessing people and situations. One day he meets Davies, a homeless tramp. He pities the old man and offers him a place to sleep. But who is this man? Is he who he says he is? And what is he up to?

The Caretaker, written in1960, is the most famous play of Nobel Prize winner Harold Pinter (1930-2008) and represented his breakthrough as a playwright.

De Huisbewaarder is directed by Paul Knieriem with René van ’t Hof  as Davies, Jan-Paul Buijs and Lowie van Oers.
