Kooman’s Puppet Theatre was founded in 1960 by Frank Kale and is now run by his son, Arjan Kooman an it has performed regularly every week since. Kooman’s is the oldest permanent puppet theatre in the Netherlands and has continued for more than 50 years without subsidies.
It is also a touring company, performing in theatres, schools and at festivals throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
The repertoire currently consists of 8 children’s shows and two for adults. Every two years a new children’s show is added to the existing repertoire. Kooman’s Puppet Theatre plays about 180 performances every season.
