The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at Theater de Veste in Delft

20th October.

This play is performed in Dutch but goes so fast you probably won’t be able to tell the difference. Written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, and first performed in 1987, it parodies and compresses the plays of William Shakespeare with all of them being performed (in comically shortened or merged form) by only three actors. The writing and editing work brilliantly. It is very Monty Python but where John Cleese and Co could get away with silliness, the Americans I have seen performing this play in England usually couldn’t. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and is performed in Dutch.
