Utrecht Early Music Festival launches new television channel

The Utrecht Early Music Festival launched a television channel during its latest edition: Early Music Televison. For ten days, the public could livestream concerts, lectures and talk shows from the festival centre TivoliVredenburg and the Utrecht churches. The International Van Wassenaer Competition was also livestreamed. In ten days, the streaming service attracted more than 18,000 viewers from 45 different countries.

Due to its great success, the current content will remain available online until 17th October. Later this year, the catalogue will be expanded with 44 new concerts, recorded during the latest Utrecht Early Music Festival (Let’s Speak, 27th August – 5th September). Early Music Television thus becomes the ‘Netflix of early music’ and is the first streaming service completely dedicated to this repertoire.
