HET KOORENHUIS
Prinsegracht 27,
The Hague
In Het Koorenhuis you can experience culture, get inspired, meet other people and develop your talent. For young and old, private and business, amateur and professional, there is room and offer for art and culture.
The corn house was built as a corn exchange in 1662-1663. It was a building where corn was stored and traded. The building was built in the classical style. Urbanus Talibert van Yperen was probably responsible for the design. In addition to being an architect, he was also a painter and one of the founders of the Confrérie Pictura. This was a society of artists (1656 – 1849) who used the corn house to meet and judge each other’s art. In 1682, some of the members founded the Hague Drawing Academy, which would later grow into the Royal Academy of Art. This academy would remain in the choir house until 1839.
AnnA took over the management of Het Koorenhuis and Concordia in April 2024. After the bankruptcy of Stichting &CC last January, the Municipality of The Hague found the temporary operator in AnnA. As an experienced cultural real estate party, we will ensure that these two cultural spots in The Hague for talent development will flourish again with a fresh wind until April 2025. Or as AnnA says: “working for people and the environment again.”
