Violin sensation BOMSORI KIM artist in residence at Residentie Orkest

Bomsori Kim is artist in residence with the Residentie Orkest for the 2025/2026 season. Under the baton of principal conductor Jun Märkl and regular guest conductor Richard Egarr, the top violinist will perform works by Wieniawski, Saint-Saëns, Brahms and Sibelius in concerts at the Amare Concert Hall in The Hague and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

South Korean violinist Bomsori Kim (b. 1989) has quickly become a world star. She is a laureate of the ARD International Music Competition, Tchaikovsky International Competition, Queen Elisabeth Competition and the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition. Bomsori has played with orchestras such as New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Wiener Symphoniker, Philadelphia Orchestra and Orchestra Philharmonique de Radio France under conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Paavo Järvi, Marin Alsop and Jaap van Zweden. In 2023, she made her debut with the Residentie Orkest conducted by Michal Nesterowicz with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Bomsori is a regular guest at renowned festivals such as the Rheingau Musik Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and Verbier Festival. In 2021, she became the Focus Artist of the Rheingau Musik Festival and began a five-year residency at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival as Menuhin’s Heritage Artist.

In February 2002, Bomsori signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. Since then she has released three critically acclaimed albums: the Fryderyk Music Award-winning duo album with pianist Rafał Blechacz, Violin on Stage and an album of Nielsen’s Violin Concerto, which won the Gramophone Award in 2024. Bomsori studied at Seoul National University and at the Juilliard School with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes. She plays on the three hundred year old Guarnerius del Gesù “ex-Moller” violin on loan from the Samsung Foundation of Culture and the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
