Hot House is one of the oldest jazz venues of The Netherlands. It has existed since 1969.

More importantly, Hot House is a venue of adventurous and modern jazz, a favourite venue of young talented jazz musicians  and jazz musicians of great international renown. More than one of them started their careers here. Among many others, Misha Mengelberg, Han Bennink, Jeroen van Vliet, Eric Vloeimans, Benny Wallace, Chris Potter, Ray Anderson, Willem Breuker, Michiel Borstlap, Yuri Honing, Ben Webster, Paul van Kemenade, Ernst Reijseger, Guillermo Celano, Anton Goudsmit, John Taylor, Ernst Glerum, Wilbert de Joode and Michael Vatcher played at our club. Because of the great atmosphere there is always a marvelous synergy between the musicians and the audience. That is why all of them love to come and play at our club.

Over the years Hot House has proved to be a nursery of jazz. And it still is. Not only do the winners of the yearly awarded Boy Edgar/VPRO Prijs ( the most prestigious Dutch jazz award) invariably call at our club during their concert tours. Also the Young VIPS (the winners of the award for the most talented young jazz musicians) perform at our club on a regular basis. Beyond this,  workshops and masterclasses are organised in cooperation with  the Leiden municipal school of music and the SWING foundation.
