MUSEUM BOIJMANS VAN BEUNINGEN IS NOW EMPTY

All works of art have left the museum prior to the major renovation of the building. After a relocation process lasting seven months, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is now empty. The museum will open its doors again in seven years.

Today the key was handed over to the municipality of Rotterdam, owner of the building.

During the renovation, the collection remains visible and numerous programmes continue. For Boijmans at the Neighbours eight local institutions will mount exhibitions with works from the museum’s collection. Boijmans Abroad will show the museum’s best works around world and Boijmans in the Classroom will take art to Rotterdam schools.

From 2021 the museum’s collection of 151,000 works of art will come together again at the opening of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen – the first fully publicly accessible art depot in the world.     5th August 2019
