UTRECHT EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis

More sad, but not surprising news as a consequence of the current crisis.

The Organisatie Oude Muziek (Early Music Organisation), which produces the Utrecht Early Music Festival, has just announced that the festival’s 2020 edition cannot take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Festival director Xavier Vandamme: “For the first time in our history we are forced to cancel an edition of the festival. This is painful, but our priority now is public health. The safety of our audience members, musicians, volunteers and employees comes first. Given the COVID-19 crisis, this was an unavoidable decision.”

The Organisatie Oude Muziek is currently exploring the possibility of transferring this year’s festival programme to 2021 (17th August to 5th September).
