Basklarinet Festijn – 5th edition celebrates The unifying power of the bass clarinet . Kicks off on 12th September 2025 in Amsterdam.
The Basklarinet Festijn is a recurring event featuring the bass clarinet in contemporary composed music, improvisation and avant garde jazz. The instrument can either take the centre stage or play a supporting role, blending its colours with other instruments, voice, or electronics. It is a chameleon of sound – like a jukebox full of unusual timbres. Artistic directors and founders are bass clarinetists Fie Schouten and Tobias Klein. The Basklarinet Festijn is a travelling festival, taking place from 12th September through 23rd November 2025, celebrating the versatility of the bass clarinet with contemporary music, young talent, and international collaboration.
