Museum Beelden aan Zee is a unique cultural institution in the Netherlands; it is the only Dutch museum that focuses exclusively on contemporary international sculpture. Its founders, Theo and Lida Scholten, started collecting in the late sixties and devoted a large part of their lives to acquiring rare works of art. They laid the basis for the current collection of the museum, which opened in 1994 and now holds nearly two thousand sculptures, reliefs and medals and houses an ambitious exhibition and educational program.
