HAPPILY EVER AFTER PRODUCTIONS

Happily Ever After Productions was originally founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California. It started as a Children’s Theatre Company, producing musicals for children 4-17 at schools throughout the area.

After ten years, founder Sara Watts decided to relocate to Amsterdam. In this new city, it was clear that the need for musical theatre in English in this city was great. There were many theater groups that did an occasional musical, and once or twice a year a big tour comes through, but not an opportunity to perform in, or go see an English language musical at all times.

THE SISTINE CHAPEL COMES TO THE HAGUE

Thirty-four of Michelangelo’s iconic frescos have been reproduced actual size and arranged in the Grote Kerk to give an impression of the Vatican’s unique chapel. The space is an ideal location for the exhibition and creates exactly the right atmosphere and ambience. The huge wall paintings are arranged around the Kerk on specially constructed frames and the Chapel’s ceiling paintings, including of course The Creation of Adam, hang on wires above one’s head.

The 2024 DELFT CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

For our final visit to the fFestival the menu consisted of Robert Schumann’s piano quintet and six of Franz Schubert’s Lieder from Schwanengesang, written in 1828.
Schwanengesang or Swan song – who doesn’t know the meaning of the term? Franz Schubert (1810 – 1856) was said to have written six hundred songs. He was dying as he penned the last notes of this piece. As many of his friends, weakened by syphilis, he died young of typhoid.

RON MUECK at Museum Voorlinden in The Hague/Wassenaar

The figures are totally lifelike with every pimple and nasal hair in place. One feels like a guilty viewer in a freak or peep show – intrusive and even perhaps a little embarrassed. But the giant figures exist in their own private Lilliput, gazed at by people only a quarter of their size, and they don’t care.

Restoration of Panorama Mesdag in The Hague is underway

Preparations for a major cleaning of the world-famous Panorama of Mesdag have been underway since May. Two restorers remove dirt from the huge 1,680m2 canvas and carry out local maintenance and restoration work. No less than three months have been allocated to the job – and all this to be done under the gaze of visitors to the Panorama.
