18th – 21st March.
This year for the first time you experience the festival entirely online, from your own festival site! With both prominent new work and a next generation of artists, OFF explores the future of opera and builds bridges between young talent and established names. During the three OFF Nights and the OFF Day of this anniversary edition the central theme is ‘where do we go from here?’
OFF 2021 presents three special operas: the satirical musical theatre piece Kurt Weill: The Seven Deadly Sins, the family opera A song for the Moon (6+) and a preview of Michel van der Aa’s latest opera Upload, which will premiere as a film later this spring and on stage in a future season.
Furthermore, you get an insight into how a new generation of theatre makers deals with the disappearance of their stage and the online possibilities that replace this during OFF Night #2 and throughout the festival you can enjoy various musical performances, inspiring talks and a live programme. And all this completely free of charge!
