On 15th November, the Mauritshuis in The Hague is hosting a live guided tour of the museum in English at 6pm (CET). The museum has decided to offer this opportunity to the public due to the temporary closure of the museum in line with coronavirus measures in the Netherlands per 5th November. The hour-long tour will be streamed on the museum’s website and will include all of the collection’s highlights: Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Goldfinch and of course paintings by Rembrandt. Live questions can be asked throughout via a chat function. The tour costs €2 per stream and will be led by one of the museum’s English-speaking guides, Mrs. Jane Choy. The digital live guided tour has been made possible with the support of NN Group, main sponsor of the Mauritshuis.
Martine Gosselink, Mauritshuis Director: ‘We were of course disappointed to have to temporarily close our doors again. But just as during the first period of closure, we immediately starting thinking of ways to give the public as much digital access to the collection as possible. Since March, we have had our digital plarform Mauritshuis at Home on the website offering online workshops, short films about our collection, 3D tours of the Mauritshuis and children’s activities to do at home. Now we are taking this a step further with a truly live hour-long guided tour. Since visitors won’t be able to come to the paintings for a while, the paintings will go to them at home!’
