OPEN CALL – Delft Fringe Festival is looking for new stories

Delft Fringe Festival will give a stage to a new generation of makers in 2024. New makers tell the relevant stories of today. They increasingly want to give the public an important message, and sometimes even a literal call to action. Delft Fringe Festival invites these new makers to register before 31st December for a performance spot at the thirteenth edition from 28th May to 9th June 2024.

The themes addressed by the new generation of performing artists often arise from a fascination or a social necessity. Some performances are very personal, others discuss a larger problem. Such as climate change, personal freedom and (mental) health. They bring stories that need to be told, and stories that are worth listening to. Delft Fringe Festival gives a stage to these stories.

Open Call 2024

Delft Fringe Festival offers new professional makers who want to develop artistically a place to work on their career: “Through an open call we are looking for new makers who have followed a professional art education, are still working on it or are self-taught,” says Tamara Griffioen, artistic director at Delft Fringe Festival. “All genres are welcome at the festival, from music to musical and from dance to opera, but also cabaret, cabaret, multimedia, live art, spoken word, mime, circus or own crossovers. We further encourage makers with performances for children and young people to register.”

Flight hours and feedback

Delft Fringe Festival offers new makers a place to perform, gain experience and receive feedback, from both audiences and professionals, including theater agents and scouts. An audience award is presented, resulting in a lot of attention. In the run-up to the festival, the organization offers extra guidance in the development of the talents.

Over Delft Fringe Festival

Delft Fringe Festival is one of the most important and largest performing arts festivals for new makers in the Netherlands. In South Holland it is even the only performing arts festival that focuses entirely on new talent. Performances take place in dozens of unexpected locations, such as a centuries-old mill, houseboat or former cigar factory.
