ZEEHELDENFESTIVAL 2017 in Den Haag

ZEEHELDENFESTIVAL  2017 in Den Haag

The Zeeheldenfestival on The Hague’s Prins Hendrikplein is 5 days of music, theatre, fun and hopefully lots of sunshine at the end of June/Beginning of July.

For 5 days the Prins Hendrikplain in the Zeeheldenkwartier will be filled with music, dance, street theatre and children’s activities. The programme is quite diverse so there is sure to be something for everybody. The festival celebrates the fact that we live in such a beautiful city.

Music galore

The free neighbourhood party already gets started early in the day with children’s activities and entertainment. However, each evening will end with a bang with live music on the 2 outdoor stages. All kinds of bands will take to the stage to offer festivalgoers a plethora of musical styles from rockabilly and pop, to ska and hip hop.

Amariszi (Balkan/Klezmer), Funky Organizers (funk) and Liptease (Rock ’n R oh la la) are the headline acts on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Saturday will close in style with a rocking evening featuring bluegrass by The Hillbilly Moonshiners, electrorock by Trip to Dover, fanfare punk by De Kift and world music by Mamihlapinatapai. The festival concludes on Sunday with a breakfast and classical music by the Babylon Quartet and the Adem Trio woodwind ensemble.

Children’s programme

Children can enjoy a wide variety of handicraft activities, puppet shows, storytelling and magicians as well as workshops by the Haags Kinderatelier and the Department of Archaeology.

About the Zeeheldenfestival

Once upon time, a modest party started out in 1981 to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the neighbourhood association De Groene Eland in Zeeheldenkwartier. Now 35 years later, the party has grown into a 5-day spectacle with 50 performances for hedonists of all ages.
