Welcome to ArtsTalk Magazine Holland

Launched in June 2017, we provide previews, reviews and information, in English, for theatres, art exhibitions, concerts, opera etc, concentrating on cities in south west Netherlands. EXTRACURRICULAR

The Priceless Hidden Antiquities in the Netherlands

This is the story of how a 2,800 year-old Cypriot oinochoe, or wine jug, ended up in a small apartment in Eindhoven. Its journey from ancient Cyprus to a Dutch domestic environment is as intriguing as the archaeological importance of the vessel itself. The saga begins nearly a century ago, far from both Cyprus and the Netherlands, in Sweden.

Abdulrazak Gurnah at Border Kitchen in The Hague

The Tanzanian-born novelist won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2021 for his ‘uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents.’ A hush fell among the guests as Abdulrazak Gurnah quietly made his way on stage towards a bright red chair . . .
