Filmhuis Den Haag opens first boutique cinema in The Hague

Films in a living room setting in Zaal 6!

From this week, The Hague also has a boutique cinema screening room. Zaal 6 is open on the first floor of Filmhuis The Hague. In an atmospheric living room setting you can watch the most beautiful films in a comfy chair with drinks at hand. The cinema has a different experience than a normal cinema room, of course with state-of-the-art projection and is furnished with comfortable velvet lounge chairs and benches. Poufs, pillows, rugs and tables complete the living room feeling. In total there are nineteen “corona proof” seats *, titles from the regular program are shown and the ticket price is the same as a normal ticket.

Room 6 was opened without a major renovation of the Haagse Filmhuis. The extra cinema room has been set up in the restaurant, which has closed its doors temporarily due to the corona. Géke Roelink, director, explains: “We currently only have a capacity of 18% in our halls, observing the 1.5-meter rules. An extra room is very nice. Before the corona crisis, the Filmhuis received about 325,000 visitors a year, including 20,000 school students for film education. ”

At the Filmhuis aan het Spui you can find special films from more than 50 countries. The Filmhuis also programs in Dakota (Escamp district) and Omniversum. Visit one of the festivals or specials that we organize with numerous (Hague) partners. In this way we would like to be of extra significance for the city and all its inhabitants. Every year, 20,000 students also visit the Filmhuis for film and image education. In addition, the Filmhuis is the initiator of the film hub Beeldung, with which it ensures that film education is spread across South Holland.
