The beautiful Prince William V Gallery is situated in the midst of the historical centre of The Hague. The Gallery is located at the Buitenhof, a five minute walk from the Mauritshuis. You can easily combine a visit to the Gallery with a visit to the Mauritshuis, or the nearby Prison Gate Museum Gevangenpoort. Affordable tickets are available for both combinations.

The Prince William V Gallery is called the hidden gem of The Hague. Prince William V of Oranje-Nassau had the room built in 1774 in order to exhibit his paintings. The walls were fully covered, in order to clearly show the wealth of his collection.

The Prince’s painting collection formed the basis for the collection of the Mauritshuis. Famous masterpieces such as The Bull by Potter and The Garden of Eden with the Fall of Man by Rubens and Brueghel were presented in the Gallery.

In the last few years, the Prince William V Gallery has been restored to its former lustre. More than 150 old masterpieces from the Mauritshuis collection (including works by Rembrandt, Steen, Rubens and Potter) are once again on display side by side. Crystal chandeliers, silken wall coverings and lavish curtains complete the regal appearance.
