NO DELFT CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS YEAR

Paul Althuis, chairman of Delft Chamber Music Festival, made the following announcement today, 23rd January.

We would like to inform you about an important decision that we as a board have taken with care. Unfortunately, there will be no festival in 2025. This decision is the result of two important developments. Museum Prinsenhof, the beating heart of our festival, will be closed for the next two years for a large-scale renovation. In addition, we are confronted with rising costs and falling income from fundraising. Although the support of our Friends has helped us to partly absorb these deficits, a balanced budget is necessary to make a next edition possible.

Even though there are challenges, we remain proud of the quality and content of the festival. At the same time, we see an opportunity and necessity to broaden the programming and better respond to the wishes of funds, stakeholders and the market. Our goal is to present a renewed program in 2026 that matches the unique strength of Delft: a city where tradition and innovation come together. We are very happy that the Municipality of Delft has decided to continue supporting the festival for the next four years. Thanks to this support, we are appointing a project manager who, together with artistic director Nino Gvetadze, is developing a future-proof plan.

In this transition period we hope for your understanding and involvement. Together with Nino we investigate whether we can organize a small number of activities in 2025 to keep the many enthusiastic visitors involved. Through this newsletter we would like to keep you informed of these activities and the developments.
