Queen Máxima opens TEN TOP PIECES exhibition at Mauritshuis in The Hague

4th October – Her Majesty Queen Máxima opens the traveling exhibition Ten Top Stories on Tour at the Mauritshuis in The Hague prior to a national tour..

The exhibition consists of ten major acquisitions from the collections of the Mauritshuis, the Kröller-Müller Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum and were acquired thanks to the support of the BankGiro Lottery participants. Through the exhibition, the four museums want to emphasize the importance of new purchases for the Netherlands and the financial support they receive jointly from individuals, funds, companies and public money.

New acquisitions ensure that a museum collection continues to evolve, as only one good acquisition can revitalize a collection. In addition, a new acquisition means that important artworks remain visible to the Dutch public and conserved for the future. It is thanks to the support of the BankGiro Lottery participants (Dutch Culture Lottery) and funds such as the Rembrandt Association, the US Fund, Friends Foundations and Public Funds, through the Mondriaan Fund, for example, that museums in the Netherlands can continue to purchase important works of art.

The tour continues until 25th March 2018.
