23rd April.
Performance for secondary school ages.
An on and offline event in your school to celebrate the Bard’s birthday in style.
STET Education is proud to cooperate with The Globe Players, an over 50-year-old theatre education company in the UK. We will work together to bring to your school in The Netherlands an online performance of The Globe Players’ introduction to Shakespeare called The Play’s The Thing on Friday 23rd April 2021 at 10:30 am (CET, NL time), in celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday.
The 45-minute performance will be live-streamed directly to your school from the homes of the actors. The most valuable part of the experience is that after the performance, your students can ask the actors questions directly. Throughout the show, the actors step out of character to narrate, connect the dots and put the scenes in the bigger picture.
You also have the option to combine this online experience with a Shakespeare workshop by a STET actor at your school.
The Play’s The Thing
This lively, educational performance features scenes and fascinating facts from some of Shakespeare’s most exciting works. Bottom (Midsummer Night’s Dream) and friends prepare to stage a play, the Macbeths are up to no good and of course we meet the most famous lover couple of all time… Romeo & Juliet. The performance is a compilation of the most popular scenes in Shakespeare’s plays, combined with captivating narration, a lesson in Shakespearean insults and even a meeting with the Bard himself. This makes for an action-packed adventure through Shakespeare’s world.
