STET’s Greenhouse at Hof van Wouw in The Hague

The 2022 event took place on 9th July. STET’s Greenhouse is a place for performers to grow. Each year they present experimental work by up-and-coming talent, alongside established performers. You get to see a diverse selection of the best new theatre, dance, music and storytelling while walking through the beautiful garden of the Hof van Wouw. The Hof van Wouw is a beautiful garden in the centre of The Hague with a lovely piece of local history. The place consists of several Almshouses and was founded in 1647 by Cornelia van Wouw for the purpose of providing accommodation for single women.

This year’s line-up:-

Kalib Batta – Spoken Word

Kalib Batta is an Afro-Carribean, polyamorous, panromantic, demisexual, nongender artist and writer, who seeks to aid in the destruction of the mantle of patriarchy and all its instruments… and tries to find community, truth and responsibility through art, in the redefining of healing.

Alex Baggett – Theatre

Alex is a professional actor from Colorado living full-time in Amsterdam who is passionate about making Shakespeare understandable, accessible and therefore fun for everybody.. Alex has also partnered with STET with whom he has conducted over a dozen theatre workshops for children and teenagers across the Netherlands. This performance by Alex is a piece on Shakespeare’s Henry V.

Kitchen’s Light

Kitchen’s Light is a performance project exploring sign language use in the arts.

The aim of the Kitchen’s Light project is to promote access to and visibility of cultural expressions in Dutch Sign Language (NGT) together with young deaf culture makers, sign language artists and social partners. Central to this project is the agency of young deaf culture makers in discovering and deepening their creative talents. This performance is in Dutch Sign Language and English speaking interpreter will be present.

Bahghi – Music

Bahghi sings with her angelic voice and gently guides you into her world. With her wide imagination she takes you on a ride; whether somewhere outside, inside of her room, or within herself. Bahghi songs are written to lift herself up, give voice to the ocean of emotions and give birth to the world she longs to see. Nimo Hersi is an artist of signed word, translator in Dutch sign language and very active in the deaf community. She will perform Bahghi’s music in sign language.
