Baharak Sabourian has been appointed as chairman of the supervisory board of Kunsthal Rotterdam from January 2022. She succeeds Arjan Schakenbos, chairman of the board of directors at Vestia, who is stepping down after a period of eight years.
Baharak Sabourian has been a member of the supervisory board of Kunsthal Rotterdam since December 2018. The Supervisory Board and the Kunsthal are delighted that Sabourian will once again be joining the Kunsthal in her role as chairman. Arjan Schakenbos: “In recent years, Baharak Sabourian’s knowledge and all-round expertise have supported the Kunsthal in its mission to attract new audiences in an innovative way. With her great involvement, I am convinced that as chair she will inspire us to realize the ambitions of the Kunsthal.”
Baharak Sabourian (1976) is an all-round lawyer with extensive experience in strategic decision-making and legal and financial analysis in complex and politically sensitive processes. She begins her career as a lawyer with renowned law firms such as Allen & Overy LLP. She then continues her career at the Ministry of Finance, where she deals with current files; bonuses in the financial sector, the Dutch corporate governance code and European financial law issues. Baharak Sabourian has been working at Rabobank since 2019, where she currently holds the position of Director of Organizations KYC Operations Retail NL.

The Supervisory Board of Kunsthal Rotterdam also consists of Bianca Tetteroo (Chairman of the Executive Board of Achmea), Steven Lubbers (CEO Hollandia Corporate), Dirk Jan Dokman (Healthtech entrepreneur) and Marloes Krijnen (founder and former director FOAM, Photography Museum Amsterdam).
