DELFT CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL 2019

The undoubted high-spot of the social and cultural calendar in Delft is the annual Chamber Music Festival. Now in its 23rd year, the festival has gained an international reputation with musicians keen to be invited. In recent years it has been the baby of violinist Liza Ferschtman but this year Ms Ferschtman is taking a sabbatical and Dutch baritone Thomas Oliemans has been invited to take over as guest programmer. Taking the Greek mythological figure of Orpheus as his theme and inspiration Mr Oliemans has, judging by the programme, kept the tried and tested mix of old and new in this year’s programme.

Here are the events we reviewed in reverse chronological order . . .

MIRAGES Couperin, Ravel and Fauré at the Van er Mandelezaal on 3rd August
