Dutch East India Company ship returns to the Maritime Museum

For the past seven months, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) ship Amsterdam, a replica of an East Indiaman that has been docked at Het Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam since 1991, has been undergoing major overhaul. The popular attraction has been refurbished and will return to its permanent location on the museum’s jetty on Friday, 16th April 2021.

As soon as the museum is open to the public again, the ship will be open to visitors. With the return of the VOC ship, the museum is giving the starting shot for actively collecting questions about the ship from the public and cooperation partners. This is the starting point for creating new narratives about the VOC history on board the ship.
